Response to COVID-19:

Dear ASHRAE SJV Chapter Members & Guests,
ASHRAE Society has recognized the serious implications this pandemic has had by providing the following updates to local chapters:

  • Distinguished Lecture (DL) program has been suspended until July 1st
  • Chapter leaders should review local circumstances and consider electronic format to meetings
  • ASHRAE Learning Institute postpones all in-person, public courses scheduled for March, April, and May

ASHRAE SJV chapter leaders met March 19th, 2020 to discuss the impact this has had on local firms and the ability for our chapter to execute meetings for the duration of the 2019-2020 year. Much of the feedback received indicated that local firms need to direct attention away from ASHRAE activities and towards the needs of their personnel. Furthermore, Fresno Mayor Lee Brand announced the “Shelter-in-Place” ordinance which prohibits all non-essential gatherings effective March 18th, 2020. The details of this ordinance can be found by clicking here.

With the well-being of our ASHRAE SJV chapter members in mind, we have decided to suspend all ASHRAE SJV in-person activities, meetings, and events until further notice. Resources from ASHRAE Society have been summarized in the link by clicking here regarding best practices for the operation and maintenance of heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems. To supplement any content missed from the originally scheduled chapter meetings, click on the link here for free ASHRAE Tech Hour videos including “Occupant Health, Building Energy Performance and Humidity” and “Where Have All the Ethics Gone?” We encourage you to take advantage of those resources.

In this time of uncertainty, please rest assured that ASHRAE SJV chapter leaders will remain active participants in chapter operations to better prepare us for upcoming events as we transition into the 2020-2021 year. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions and stay safe. Thank you all.
